'World War Z,' dealt with a lot of issues during its production, so much so that seven weeks of re-shoots had to be done.

Fortunately, it all worked out in the end and became the sleeper hit of that year.

Unfortunately, the same fate has now fallen over on its sequel too.

Paramount studios and Sky Dance entertainment today announced that the sequel of 2013s zombie-thriller will not release this year and has taken the film off their 2017 release calendar, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie was set to return with Brad Pitt in the main lead and was slated to hit the theatres on June 9.

But the project got delayed when it lost director J.A. Bayona last year.

Though, an insider says the studio hopes to have the sequel ready for 2018 or 2019.

'World War Z' was a story of Former United Nations Employee Gerry Lane who travels the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to destroy humanity itself.

The flick starring Brad Pitt and Peter Capaldi was a winner at the box-office, earning $540m worldwide.
