Paris attack questions the limit of freedom of expression, says Muslim cleric Mahali

Condemning the attack on Paris-based satire magazine Charlie Hebdo, Muslim cleric Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali on Thursday said the incident has started a debate as to what should be the limit of freedom of expression and the expressing of an opinion.

"Attack in Paris is highly condemnable; it is an attack on freedom of press. But this attack has started a debate, as to what should be the limit of freedom of expression and expressing opinion," said Mahali.

Earlier on Wednesday, a few gunmen entered the offices of Charlie Hebdo and opened fire. According to reports, 12 people, including two police officers were killed in the attack, with five others seriously wounded.

Charlie Hebdo has reportedly been facing threats after it published a series of cartoon depicting Prophet Muhammad in 2011 and more recently, ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
