PC shipments to sink, tablets surge in 2014: Study

The combined shipment of PCs, tablets and mobile phones will climb by seven percent in 2014.

Gartner, an American information technology research and advisory firm, said PCs sales will however continue to fall in 2014, as more consumers will buy mobile devices.

According to CNET, global shipments of personal computers will total 276.7 million in 2014, a 6.6 percent drop from last year.

However, tablet shipments will jump by 38.6 percent owing to greater demand in regions outside North America.
