Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to give up on the resumption of 'much-awaited' bilateral series against India after being unable to receive a necessary reply from the BCCI.

Confirming the news, PCB chairman Shahryar Khan said that the board has decided to close the chapter and is likely to make the announcement about the same on Monday.

According to the Dawn, Khan had sent an email to the BCCI on Thursday asking them to decide on the series in the next 48 hours, failing which they would decide against playing India.

He added that the PCB made every possible effort to resume the series and even changed the venue to Sri Lanka in order to sincerely play a cricket series against India.

Shahryar stressed that the PCB should not be held responsible for the cancellation as it would be difficult for the board to make the necessary arrangements on a short notice.

According to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the PCB and BCCI, both countries are scheduled to play six series between 2015 and 2023 after a clearance from the Indian Government.

India have not played a full bilateral Test series with Pakistan after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
