PCB insists tainted Amir fully rehabilitated

Disgraced pace bowler Mohammad Amir has completed his rehabilitation and deserves another chance at international cricket, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Earlier, the 23-year-old was included in the 26-member national fitness camp in Lahore for the upcoming limited-overs series against New Zealand, which could pave the way for his return to the national squad.

PCB stated that Amir had admitted his guilt from the first day and had sought forgiveness from his country and his fans, Sport24 reported.

The country's cricket board further insisted that the left-hander had cooperated with multiple investigations and said that Amir was 19 years old when he was indicted.

PCB added that he came from a rural underprivileged background and both the International Cricket Council and the British justice system were lenient towards Amir because of his remorse and cooperative conduct.

Left-hander Amir displayed impressive form in domestic matches as well as in the Bangladesh Premier League after ending his five-year ban for spot-fixing three months ago.

Considered as one of the most promising talents, Amir had taken 51 wickets in 14 Tests and 25 in 15 one-day internationals before he was handed a five-year ban for bowling deliberate no-balls by pre-arrangement during the fourth test against England at Lord's in 2010.
