An angry mob went on a rampage and clashed with the police on Saturday at Kolkata's Eastern Metropolitan Bypass after two pedestrians were run over by a speeding bus earlier in the day at Chingrighata.

The agitated locals staged a protest against the road accident and torched five buses.

The police resorted to lathicharge to take a control of the situation.

Meanwhile, Bidhannagar MLA Sujit Bose visited the spot and took cognizance of the entire incident.

"The situation is under control right now and the government will also try to help the family of the deceased," said Bose to media.
