Vice President of United States Mike Pence on Saturday invoked the nationalist feelings among the citizens on National Anthem Day.

Mike Pence took to his Twitter account to pay his respects to soldiers who fought for the protection of the country.

He tweeted, "On this special day in 1931, the Star Spangled Banner became our National Anthem. As a proud Nation, we must always respect our great American flag and our National Anthem in order to honour those brave Americans who defend & protect the United States of America".

Mike Pence has been known to give a high respect to the national anthem of the US.

Last year in October, Pence staged a 'planned' walk out of a National Football League (NFL) after a dozen San Francisco players knelt down during the playing of the national anthem, owing to the disrespect of the national anthem.
