Says one who killed Gandhi is being felicitated and the people who are destroying society are felicitating Godse

The president of the Bihar unit of the Janata Dal United (JD-U), Vashishtha Narayan Singh, on Sunday lashed out at Hindu Mahasabha, Hindu Sena and Maharana Pratap Battalion for commemorating Nathuram Godse's 66th death anniversary as 'Shaurya Diwas', saying people destroying the society are felicitating murderers like Godse.

"The one who killed Gandhi is being felicitated and the people who are destroying society are felicitating Godse," Singh told ANI here.

Mocking right wing groups further for glorifing Godse on his death anniversary, Congress leader Meem Afzal said it is obvious that if Hindus will not celebrate Godse's jayanti.

"who will celebrate if they don't..God know what are they thinking, what is their motive and direction," Afzal added.

The Hindu Mahasabha, Hindu Sena and Maharana Pratap Battalion today organised a program to commemorate Nathuram Godse's death anniversary as 'Shaurva Diwas' in Panvel near Mumbai.

Several right wing groups assembled at Panvel today to commemorate the 66th death anniversary of Nathuram Godse, the man who assassinated Father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, 1948.

They organised a program called 'Shaurya Diwas' to commemorate Godse.

Some of these groups reportedly celebrate Godse's death anniversary on November 15th throughout Maharashtra every year.

Godse was hanged on November 15, 1949 following his conviction.
