Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said here on Wednesday that people in Maharashtra are upset with the Congress-NCP government and are now hoping the BJP will take Maharashtra forward.

"A lot of people are upset with Congress-NCP government in the state. During their rule Maharashtra slipped from first place to sixth place, there is a debt of three lakh crores on Maharashtra, more than 10,000 farmers have committed suicide and there is no development work going on in the state," Gadkari told ANI.

"People want change, and they have hope that BJP government will take Maharashtra forward and bring the state back to first place from sixth place," Gadkari added.

Polling began this morning in Maharashtra's 288 assembly constituencies to elect a new Legislative Assembly in the state. The polling began at 7.00 am today and will conclude at 6.00 pm. The counting of votes will be held on October 19.
