Paralympic runner Oscar Pistorius reportedly broke down as a pathologist told the jury at his murder trial about the horrific injuries inflicted upon Reeva Steenkamp.

Pistorius reportedly slumped forward in his seat and appeared to be retching as Professor Jan Botha described Steenkamp's arm wound as almost similar to that of an amputation.

According to News.com.au, Botha said that the shots could have been discharged within the space of four seconds adding that she feels it is highly unlikely that Steenkamp would have been able to call out.

Botha said that before Pistorius' girlfriend was in a position to react, the remaining bullets would have hit her, while the Paralympic runner sobbed into his hands.

Pistorius' murder trial reportedly resumed in Pretoria to a packed courtroom and it is likely that the Paralympic runner would take the stand next after Botha, but it might be delayed until the next day.

Pistorius is expected to finally answer why he shot his girlfriend through the locked door of his bathroom, more than an year after Steenkamp's murder, the report added.
