Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in a video conference, has urged the countrymen to put in their best efforts to maintain communal harmony and ensure safety and security of the people of minority communities in the aftermath of attacks on Hindu temples and members of the community in the Muslim-majority country.

She made the appeal during a video conference, that was projected in 2981 villages, upazilas of eight districts of the division, with peoples representatives, professional leaders and officials of Rajshahi division from her Gonobhaban official residence on Saturday, reports the Dhaka Tribune.

"As a Muslim majority country it is the responsibility of all of us to take care of the minorities," she told the conference.

"You have to remain careful so that no such incident, which are taking place sporadically in different parts of the country, take place anywhere in the country," she said.

She also urged the countrymen to resist all evil designs against development, saying peace is the foremost prerequisite for the country to continue the ongoing development.

Hasina cautioned everyone against a possible fresh spate of violence in the country as "BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) leaders have already given the hints and threatened to go for tough movement from November".

She accused the BNP-Jamaat clique of driving the country to the "path of destruction" and said, "they are also responsible for destroying the morality of the youths".
