"Congratulations my friend Bibi @netanyahu! Recall our New York meeting last September warmly," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier in the day said that he would try to form a new government in the next two to three weeks. This would be Netanyahu's fourth term as the Prime Minister.
With nearly all of the ballots counted, Netanyahu's conservative Likud Party captured 30 seats in the 120-member Parliament to beat the 24 seats won by its main challenger, the Zionist Union.
