Prime Minister Narendra Modi today remembered former prime minister Indira Gandhi on her 30th death anniversary.
"I join my fellow countrymen and women in remembering former PM Smt. Indira Gandhi on her Punya Tithi," tweeted the Prime Minister.
He is also scheduled to flag off the 'Run for Unity' programme today to mark the 39th birth anniversary of India's first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Earlier this morning, Congress president and Indira Gandhi's daughter-in-law Sonia Gandhi and members of her family reached Indira Gandhi memorial Shakti Stala to pay floral tribute.
Indira Gandhi fell to assassins bullets on this day in 1984 at her 1, Safdarjung Road residence in New Delhi. She was killed by her Sikh bodyguards more than four months after Operation Blue Star, which was launched on the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
