Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday said that her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi's visit has instilled a new dynamism and confidence in the relationship between New Delhi and Dhaka.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit has instilled new dynamism and confidence in our relationship. We discussed the issues of sharing of water of 54 common rivers. Also pledged zero tolerance against terrorism," she said.
"Prime Minister Modi is receptive to the issue of growing trade deficit and assured of his government's cooperation. We agreed to establish special economic zones in Mongla and Bhermara for India. We hope this would increase Indian investment in Bangladesh," she added.
Speaking about the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA), Hasina recalled the historic role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Indira Gandhi.
"We also recognize the contribution of President Pranab Mukherjee," she added.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart witnessed the exchange of instruments of ratification of the Land Boundary Agreement.
Seeking to promote people to people contacts between the two nations, both the Prime Ministers flagged off two trans-boundary buses linking Guwahati to Dhaka via Shillong and Kolkata to Tripura via Dhaka.
