Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid tribute to infantry on the occasion of Infantry Day which is celebrated on October 27.
"On Infantry Day we salute the indomitable courage and bravery of our Infantry, who have left no stone unturned in serving our Nation," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
"We pay rich tributes to our Infantry Martyrs who dedicated their lives to protect the unity and integrity of our Nation", he added.
Chief of Army Staff, General Dalbir Singh Suhag, and senior serving officers earlier today laid wreaths at the Amar Jawan Jyoti on the occasion.
Infantry Day, which is observed on October 27 every year, marks the landing of the first military battalion at Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir to guard the State from the attack by Pakistani raiders supported by the Pakistan army.
