PM Modi should set aside grievances against political adversaries when travelling abroad: RJD

Rashtriya Janata Dal(RJD) leader Manoj Jha on Saturday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to set aside his grievances against his political adversaries in India, when travelling abroad.

"I think, when Prime Minister Modi goes to a foreign country, he should set aside whatever grievances or grudges he has against his political adversaries in India. I think, when he goes abroad, he is my Prime Minister as well, and that, I feel, the Prime Minister forgets more often than not," Jha told ANI here.

On Prime Minister Modi's address at United Nations Sustainable Summit and on India being included as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, Jha said: "He(PM Modi) has simply reiterated what previous Prime Ministers have been doing for the last four decades. I think, while asking for (UNSC)membership, we must also put across that it should not be qualified by clauses. Every member, if we are included, should have the same right as others. We don't want a lame-duck membership which will solve no purpose."

On Friday, Modi told United Nations General Secretary Ban ki-moon that India would continue to be a strong supporter of UN peace keeping, but at the same time there had to be a change in the manner in which decisions were being taken regarding such operations.

The discussion between the two leaders focused largely on peace keeping, on sustainable development, including climate change, on UN Security Council reform and some regional issues.
