Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called the terror strike on the Army Public School in Peshawar as a 'senseless act of unspeakable brutality', and added that India offers the families of the victims its deepest condolences.

Taking to Twitter to express his grief over the ongoing attack by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has reportedly led to the death of 130 people, including 110 students, he said, "Strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack at a school in Peshawar."

"It is a senseless act of unspeakable brutality that has claimed lives of the most innocent of human beings - young children in their school," he added.

"My heart goes out to everyone who lost their loved ones today. We share their pain and offer our deepest condolences," he further stated.

Five terrorists have been killed so far. According to reports, around ten terrorists stormed the school, some of them dressed as Frontier Corps' officers. One of the militants reportedly blew himself up, while another terrorist is believed to have over 50 captives in his custody.

A strong contingent of police and security forces reached the spot and blocked the area as the operation took place. The police have also reportedly surrounded the school perimeter.

Meanwhile, TTP spokesman Muhammad Khorasani has said that the attackers were instructed to target the older students but not the younger ones.
