Security experts here on Tuesday condemned the terror siege of Peshawar's Army Public School and described it as a very sad for humanitarian ethos.
"The attack on the school in Peshawar is a cause for deep sadness and anguish. The fact that innocent children have now been targeted by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is an illustration of the manner in which Pakistan's internal security has deteriorated," security expert Uday Bhaskar told ANI.
Former Deputy Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Raj Kadyan termed the ongoing terror attack as very unfortunate, adding, "Whenever innocent people are killed, whether they are Indians or non-Indians, one's heart goes out to them and their families."
The experts, however, reiterated that the attack was partly Pakistan's own doing.
"If you nurture lawless elements, some day they will hit you back and that is what is happening in Pakistan," said Kadyan.
"What's happening, had to happen, as when you create a monster, it has to bite you," added Wing Commander (Retd.) Praful Bakshi.
The ongoing terror strike has till now reportedly claimed the lives of at least 104 children, with another 40 left wounded. The security forces have so far cleared three blocks of the school.
Reports say that one terrorist still has over 50 captives in his custody.
Almost 10 terrorists stormed inside the school dressed as Frontier Corps' officers and two to three militants have been killed, reported ARY News.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the attack saying that the terrorists should not be spared and that the kids were the foremost priority at the moment.
The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has postponed his party's countrywide protests scheduled for December 18 and strongly condemned the terror strike, according to Dawn.
He called the terrorist attack on innocent children the worst ever form of barbarism, and said he will be going to Peshawar to assess the situation on the ground before commenting further on it.
