Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday thanked President Pranab Mukherjee for joining in the International Yoga Day celebrations by inaugurating a mass yoga event at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter for thanking the President.
"I would like to thank Rashtrapati ji for joining #YogaDay celebrations at Rashtrapati Bhavan. A very special and encouraging gesture," he tweeted.
Around 1,000 residents and staff of Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President's Body Guard, the Army Guard, ITBP and the Delhi Police participated in the yoga event, which was organised in collaboration with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of AYUSH.
Yoga practice classes were also conducted for residents of the President's Estate from June 1 to 20 in preparation for the International Yoga Day.
