PM Modi to visit Myanmar, Australia and Fiji

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be travelling to Myanmar, Australia and Fiji next week, where he will participate in various summits and bilateral meetings.

Starting November 11, the Prime Minister will be travelling to these three countries, where he hopes to strengthen relations between India and its allies, especially nations belonging to the Asia-Pacific region.

"Starting 11th November I would be travelling to Myanmar, Australia and Fiji to participate in various summits and bilateral meetings," he tweeted.

Prime Minister Modi also took to twitter to lay out his travel itinerary in Myanmar, adding that he is scheduled to attend two key conferences in that nation.

"In Myanmar I will attend 2 key multilateral summits- ASEAN and East Asia Summits. Looking forward to meeting leaders attending these Summits," the Prime Minister tweeted.

The Prime Minister also stated that India was committed to reinforcing the relationship with other Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.

"Our ties with South East Asia are deep rooted. Strengthening relations with ASEAN nations is an important part of our 'Act East' policy," he tweeted.

"ASEAN is central to our dream of an Asian century, where India will play a crucial role. Am sure the meetings there would be fruitful," the Prime Minister added.

Prime Minister Modi also laid out his plans with Myanmar, referring to that nation as a 'valued friend'.

"I will have bilateral meetings with leaders of Myanmar, a valued friend. Having stronger relations with Myanmar is a priority area for us," he tweeted.

The Prime Minister also wrote at great length of his plans in Australia, where he will have a full schedule. He will first attend the G-20 Summit in Brisbane, after which he will address the Australian parliament,

followed by an interaction with the Indian community in that nation, before attending an event, which will be hosted by his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott. He described his plans in a series of tweets.

The last Indian Prime Minister to visit Australia was Rajiv Gandhi in 1986. Prime Minister Modi's visit to Myanmar, Australia and Fiji is his first trip abroad since his hugely successful trip to the United States in September. It follows the state visit paid by Australia Prime Minister Tony Abbott earlier this year.
