The top Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership have decided that Nawaz Sharif will continue to role as the Prime Minister of the country and the party would use all the legal and constitutional options if needed, after submission of the Supreme Court-appointed Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report on panama papers case.

This decision was made during a top level meeting of PML-N leadership chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday.

The high-level meeting also discussed the political situation prevailing in the country.

Many top leaders of PML-N including Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique were present during the meeting.

Sharif told the meeting that he had presented himself before the JIT for the supremacy of the law.

"My entire family was summoned, but we were not informed about the allegations against us," Geo News quoted Sharif as saying.

Asserting that JIT has been controversial since day one of its formation, Rafique said that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) should have headed the JIT.

He also expressed reservation over the inclusion of security agencies in the process of investigation in the panama papers case.

Rafique questioned as under which law was the permission to tap phone calls was given.

Defence Minister Asif said that the ruling party will not accept the findings of the JIT if the statements of a former Qatari prime minister are not made part of the report.

The party also demanded the people of the country should be informed what the PM and his family have been interrogated about.
