Police officials busted a sex racket by arresting 15 people, including nine girls in Kanpur.
They also raided the house of a local politician in Kalyanpur locality following a tip-off.
A senior police official of Kanpur, Surendra Nath Tiwari, said six girls were natives of West Bengal.
"Nine girls and six boys have been arrested, six girls are from West Bengal and three were living here in Kanpur for past few years but originally hail from Allahabad and Madhya Pradesh. Boys who have been arrested are from Allahabad and Auraiya. The house belongs to a guy named Deepak Gupta. The investigation is on and we are trying to siphon more information," said Tiwari.
Police said they were interrogating the girls.
Deepak Gupta, a small-time politician of Samajwadi Party (SP), is absconding.
Police have launched a manhunt to arrest Gupta.
A case against the arrested persons has been filed under different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
