Police arrested a militant after he tried to slit the throat of a security officer with a knife and tried to snatch his weapons in Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Parvez Ahmed, said that the assailant is cousin of an active militant associated with Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant outfit for the past one and half years.
"The attack took place at 12 noon when our security officer was standing on the location where the attack took place. He was attacked by an assailant who was carrying a knife. He attacked the security officer on the neck with the knife. Then he tried to snatch the weapon from him, but the officer did not allow him to do so. In the meantime, the security personnel posted on the other end were alerted and they came running and surrounded him. He was overpowered and arrested on spot," said Ahmed.
