Political parties supporting terrorists in country: Pak Chief Justice

Asserting that courts were being attacked by terrorist in order to instil fear among lawyers and judges, Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali has said it is disappointing to see some political parties supporting terrorists in the country.

"It is disappointing to see some political parties supporting terrorists for their own interest," Geo News quoted Justice Jamali as saying.

Maintaining that terrorism in the country flourishing due external powers and internal patronisation, he said, "In Karachi and Balochistan law and order cases, I have discussed these issues."

He opined that founder "Mohammad Ali Jinnah did not want to make Pakistan a secular nation", while adding that the Constitution allows all faiths to practice their religion without fear of being persecuted.

Insisting that all institutions should work in their respective domains and should not trespass each other, he said this was the only way good governance in the country can be established.

He said an impression was being given that there is clash between different forces. "To shun this impression a debate between the institutions has been organised," he said, adding that the changing circumstances of the world all institutions will have to work together.

He was also of the view that the Supreme Court follows the Constitution and he cannot do anything it.
