Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Zakir Musa quit the terror oufit on Saturday after it refused to endorse or back his warning that separatist leaders would be beheaded for calling the Kashmir issue "political".

Musa said in an audio message from an undisclosed location that he could not be associated with the terror outfit that is guilty of spreading a lot of confusion in Kashmir.

He further stated that he stood by his statement and his message that he would chop off the heads of Hurriyat leaders and hang them in Srinagar's Lal Chowk if they did not stop referring to the Kashmir issue as being "political in nature" and not an "Islamic struggle".

Earlier in the day, the Hizbul Mujahideen said it does not subscribe to Musa's statement.

"Such a statement (Musa's) is unacceptable to us. It reflects the personal opinion of Zakir Musa," Hizb spokesperson Saleem Hashmi said in a statement reportedly emailed to a local news agency in Kashmir.
