World peace and international order established after World War II must be firmly safeguarded, visiting Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said on Sunday.

"We must at all times firmly safeguard the peace and post-war order, which was achieved at the price of tens of millions of lives," Li said at a visit to the Cecilienhof Palace in Potsdam, capital of Germany's Brandenburg state, where the Potsdam Proclamation was issued in 1945.

The Potsdam Proclamation reiterated the principles of the Cairo Declaration that Japan must return all occupied territories to China, Li said.

He said history is a collection of objective facts, and only by facing up to the history can the future be opened up.

Any attempts to deny or glorify the wartime aggression during those years are nothing but a challenge to international justice, which will not be tolerated by the Chinese people and will be condemned by people all over the world, Li said.

The Chinese premier arrived in Berlin late Saturday for an official visit to Germany, the only European Union country included in his first overseas tour since taking office in March.

Li is scheduled to meet with German President Joachim Gauck and Chancellor Angela Merkel later in the day.

He will also deliver a speech at a business luncheon and hold talks with German political and business figures.

Germany is the last leg of Li's four-nation trip, which has already taken him to India, Pakistan and Switzerland.
