With the power situation in Delhi worsening by the day, Union Power minister, Piyush Goyal, is meeting Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung today for an emergency meeting.

The Union minister will discuss the ongoing power crisis in Delhi with the LG and other government officials and offer the Centre's support in tackling it.

The Power minister said, "My preliminary inquiries with the Delhi government suggest that they have problems of transmission and distribution, which were not set right for a decade and not enough investment has gone in to take care of the increasing load. I have called the LG to assess the situation and offer all support by the Centre to resolve this crisis."

He also added that both the AAP and the Congress are exposing their own failures by protesting against the BJP because they both had a longer run at heading the state.

Delhi has been reeling under an intensely hot summer this year with the temperature crossing the 45 degree mark coupled with frequent power cuts.

The Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress party have both held protests against the power crisis in the capital.

The BJP though has blamed both the Congress and the AAP for failing to improve the power distribution system during their rule.
