Bharatiya Janta Party's (BJP) Janakpuri MLA Jagdish Mukhi said on Thursday that better management by power distribution companies could have avoided the recent hike in power tariff.

Jagdish Mukhi told ANI, "I think power distribution companies should improve upon their management and by doing so the minus points will be curbed. This hike in the tariff is unwarranted. I criticize it. With better management it could have been avoided."

"BJP had mentioned in its manifesto that they will provide subsidy to poor in electricity. Our promise still stands high," he added.

Expressing his expectation from the upcoming Budget tomorrow, Mukhi said, "In regard to the Delhi budget which will be presented tomorrow, we have already talked to Finance Minister that subsidy should be such so that we are able to fulfill our commitment. I truly believe that the upcoming budget will have provision of heavy subsidy so as to benefit the maximum."

Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has said that electricity up to 200 units will hike by 10paise; 200-400 slab will see hike of 15 paisa and 400-800 slab of 50 paisa/unit

Newly announced electricity slab of 800-1200 will see a hike of 1.10 paisa/unit, and above 1200 hike of 1.75 paisa/unit.
