The Pakistan People's Party has adopted four resolutions at its Foundation Day function which include a demand for an apology from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for implicating PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari in false cases.
The 48th Foundation Day of the party saw a large gathering at the Bhatta Chowk, where the PPP's Lahore Information Secretary, Faisal Mir, passed a resolution seeking the Prime Minister's apology, reports the Dawn.
According to the resolution, former president Asif Ali Zardari had been acquitted of the SGS-Cotecna scam.
The second resolution, which was targeted at former President General Pervez Musharraf, said that after returning from exile, Benazir Bhutto had categorically declared that Musharraf would be held responsible were she to be assassinated. She was killed on December 27, 2007.
According to the PPP, conspiracies are in place to save him from murder trials. The resolution demanded stringent action and a fair trial of the case.
'No favour should be extended to Musharraf for being a former army chief', it said.
The third resolution demanded an order from the Chief Justice for a retrial of the murder case in which Zulfikar Bhutto was hanged in April 1979.
According to the PPP, Zulfikar Bhutto was innocent and then Chief Martial Law Administrator late General Zia-ul Haq had implicated him in a murder case which eventually led to his execution.
In the fourth resolution, the PPP demanded an apology from those leaders 'siding with the Taliban and other terrorists' which had resulted in the loss of lives of thousands of innocent citizen and Pakistani soldiers.
PPP Punjab President Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo congratulated Ashraf Bhatti and the Lahore PPP for making arrangements on the Foundation Day function.
