Senior advocate and former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Prashant Bhushan on Saturday said he had sent a legal notice to Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia over the teacher selection policy of the Delhi government.

"I have given a notice on behalf of some teachers who are not contract teachers that they should also be given an opportunity. Everybody should be given an opportunity to apply for these posts," Bhushan told ANI.

"I have asked him to respond within a week failing which these people would be compelled to go to court," he added.

The senior advocate pointed out that the Supreme Court has held that not giving any opportunity to outsiders or other people would be discriminatory and violative of Article 14 and would amount to a backdoor entry.

"The Delhi Government has come out with the same policy for regularizing contract teachers without giving any opportunity to allow other people who are not contract teachers or who are not guest teachers to apply for these posts," said Bhushan.

"Supreme Court has held that not giving any opportunity to outsiders or other people would be discriminatory and violative of Article 14 and would amount to a backdoor entry," he added.
