President Pranab Mukherjee has appointed Kaptan Singh Solanki as the next Governor of Haryana.
Solanki replaces Jagannath Pahadia, who completes his tenure in office today.
Kaptan Singh Solanki was born July 1, 1939 in Garhpara in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind District.
He is a Bharatiya Janata Party leader. Since August 2009, he has been a Member of Parliament representing the state of Madhya Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha.
Solanki completed his studies from Vikram University, Ujjain, P.G.B.T. College, Ujjain and Maharani Luxmibai College, Jiwaji University, Gwalior.
Before joining politics, he was a teacher in Banmor in Morena District between 1958 and 1965.
He served as a Professor at the P.G.V. College Gwalior from 1966-2000.
