Prime Minister Narendra Modi today greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.
In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi said, "Greetings on Janmashtami! May Lord Krishna bless our lives with peace, prosperity and happiness."
Lord Krishna is said to have been born at midnight on the ashtami or the 8th day of the Krishnapaksha or dark fortnight in the Hindu month of Shravan (August-September). This auspicious day is called Janmashtami.
