Prince William set to change duties to be hands-on-dad

The Duke of Cambridge, who holds the rank of squadron leader with the Royal Air Force, will apparently be exchanging his helicopter pilot job for a role in a London cavalry regiment so he can be closer to his family, it has been revealed.

Prince William has taken part in dozens of search and rescue missions since he started working as a Sea King pilot out of RAF Valley in Anglesey, North Wales.

It is believed that after William welcomed his new son, Prince George Alexander Louis, with wife Kate Middleton, he has been offered an appointment with the elite Mounted Regiment in the Blues and Royals, the Daily Star reported.

The shift will mean rejoining the Army and being based at Hyde Park Barracks in Knightsbridge.

It is also understood that although, the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force have also offered the Prince London-based jobs, William's preferred choice will still be the Mounted Regiment.

The new-father will become a squadron second-in-command and participate in mounted ceremonial parades at state occasions and routine events.

A source told the publication that it is a busy regiment but the new father's latest role will provide him with plenty of flexibility to carry out his royal duties.

The insider asserted that if William needs to do something else he could always delegate.
