Proteas trail by 324 runs behind Lanka as day two of second Test concludes

At the end of the second day, South Africa trail Sri Lanka by 324 runs with 7 wickets remaining in the first inning of the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo.

The hosts put up a good target of 421 runs for the loss of all wickets while facing the South African bowlers after choosing to bat first on winning the toss on the first day of the second Test.

South Africa went in to bat today after dismissing Sri Lanka's batting lineup and lost their first wicket in the second over.

Sri Lanka's slow arm orthodox bowler Rangana Herath bowled and caught the visitors' batsman Alviro Petersen for his individual score of two. Petersen's wicket was followed by the loss of two more wickets for the visitors' side while face the Sri Lankan balling attack.

Sri Lanka's Kaushal Silva caught Dean Elgar on medium-fast bowler Thisara Perera's delivery. Elgar was out for his individual score of one.

Elgar's dismissal was followed by the loss of another wicket for South Africa, as Niroshan Dickwella caught Faf du Plessis on Suranga Lakmal's delivery for his individual score of 36 runs.

Currently skipper Hashim Amla and A B de Villiers are batting for South Africa on their individual scores of 46 and 11. The visitors have amassed 98 runs so far while batting in their first innings.

South Africa will open play on the third day of the third day of the second Test with Amla and De Villiers facing the Sri Lankan bowling attack.
