Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said here on Thursday that Pune's Malin village landslide victims' families will be provided a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister's relief fund.
He also said that maximum relief from both the state as well as the centre will be provided.
Expressing his condolences for those who lost their lives, Singh said, "People staying in around 47 houses and more are stuck under the debris. Seeing the current situation it cannot be said that at one time there were houses here, there was also a temple here but it also cannot be seen now."
Singh added that continuous rainfall is creating trouble for the rescuers, but the officials are working extremely hard on rescue operations.
"The entire district authority, our state government officials along with the volunteers of NDRF, all reached the spot within three hours of getting the information and they deserve to be congratulated," he added.
He said that such mechanisms need to be brought by which immediate action could be taken in these types of natural disasters and maximum amount of safety measures should be taken to prevent them.
Earlier today, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) S. S. Guleria had informed that so far 25 bodies have been recovered and eight people have been rescued from the debris at the landslide site.
He also said that nine teams of NDRF had been deployed at the spot with strength of 371 personnel.
