Red alert has been issued in Gurdaspur and Pathankot after a senior police officer and two others were allegedly abducted yesterday on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway in Punjab.
Around four to five armed youth, garbed in army clothing stopped the vehicle of Gurdaspur Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh who was with his friend and the driver.
The youth then drove the car towards Pathankot while thrashing the three of them in the car. Singh and his friend were thrown out of the vehicle while the driver was reportedly found with his throat slit later.
Meanwhile, a massive search operation has been launched into the incident to apprehend the culprits.
In July last year, heavily-armed men in army fatigues had opened fire on a moving bus and stormed the Dinanagar police station, killing six persons, including an SP,in Gurdaspur district bordering Pakistan.
