Queen Latifah and Mary J. Blige are the newest stars to join NBC's live adaptation of the 'The Wiz Live,' in major roles.
While Latifah will star as the Wiz, the mysterious and powerful wizard ruling the Emerald City, Blige will take on the role of Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West, who captures Dorothy and her friends to avenge her evil sister, Evvamean, and to get back Dorothy's powerful silver slippers, E! Online reported.
The musical will become a Broadway revival in the 2016-2017 season.
NBC said that the adaptation of L. Frank Baum's 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' will have the same story, but with an "African-American/multicultural twist."
'The Wiz Live!' will air in December.
