Danielle Steel was recently awarded France's highest honor, the Legion d'honneur, for her service to the European country.
The "Queen of Romance" was made a "Chevalier" or Knight, the lowest of five rankings. The New York Post reported.
The New York born 66-year-old bestselling author, who has sold more than 600 million copies of her books, joined Americans like singer Bob Dylan and writer Philip Roth in the order.
