Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said the Congress president Rahul Gandhi doesn't trust the people of Amethi and has 'migrated' to Wayanad for contesting Lok Sabha election 'out of fear'.

"If the national president of Congress leaves the seat which has been with them for the last four generations, it means that he has no faith in the people of Amethi," said Yogi Adityanath.

"Obviously, the Congress should get punishment for what it has done. They have betrayed the people of Amethi and people there are ready to give a befitting reply to him. Out of fear, he was forced to migrate," he said.

Congress on Sunday announced that party president Rahul Gandhi will be contesting from Wayanad parliamentary constituency in Kerala, in addition to Amethi, to further strengthen the unity of north and south.

Slamming Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi for her alleged remark on 'Ram Janam Bhoomi,' he said that Congress and Priyanka Gandhi should apologise for her statement.

"Visiting a temple is a matter of faith but calling Lord Ram Lala Janam 'bhoomi' disputed is shameful. Congress party and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra should apologise for this statement," said Yogi Adityanath.

"All the proofs and evidence establish the fact that it is 'Ram Janambhoomi.' If she doesn't have faith in Lord Ram or Krishna, then why is she pretending to be a religious person by visiting temples here and there," said Yogi Adityanath.
