Congress party vice president Rahul Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh will participate in the 'Sanjhi Virasat Bachao' programme organized by senior Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav on Thursday in Delhi.
"Around 17 parties will attend our Sanjhi Virasat Bachao programme tomorrow and from Congress, Manmohan ji and Rahul ji will be present. The leaders of the Opposition parties, intellectuals, farmers, Dalits and tribals will attend the event," he told ANI.
Besides Congress, other Opposition parties including Samjawadi Party, DMK, TMC, BSP will also participate in the programme.
Asserting that the composure culture of India is preamble of Constitution, he said the Constitution is under threat therefore it was important to launch the programme.
"We had decided to launch this programme three months ago .This programme is in the interest of country and not against the government," he added.
Addressing a press conference, Yadav earlier said that the gathering will be attended by the leaders of the Opposition parties, intellectuals, farmers, Dalits and tribals from across the country.
"The leaders of Opposition parties have been discussing for the last three months to convene a conference as to how to save our composite culture," Yadav said.
On being asked whether Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would come for the conference, he said that everybody is invited to join this programme.
