Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi on Tuesday took over as the new chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
He has succeeded Y.S.K. Seshu Kumar, who has been given additional charge of the CBSE chairman.
Sharing the vision and role of the board in school education, Chaturvedi emphasised on the need for improving quality of education in schools across the country with ample thrust upon teacher quality to sustain improvement in the standard of education.
One of the foremost priorities would be to make CBSE a modern and multidimensional front ranking organisation, said Chaturvedi, a 1987-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre.
Before his appointment as the CBSE chairman, Chaturvedi was posted with the Seventh Pay Commission secretariat and was the resident commissioner at Madhya Pradesh Bhawan in Delhi.
