Superstar Rajnikanth on Monday unveiled the statue of former Tamil Nadu chief minister MG Ramachandran at the Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute in Chennai.
Rajnikanth is expected to give awards and also deliver a speech about MGR.
This will be Rajinikant's first public function that the actor will participate in after announcing his political plunge.
There are speculations that he will reveal his plans for his party after Kamal Haasan held a huge show while he announced his party symbol and name last month.
He had announced that he would launch a political party and will contest in all 234 assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu.
Recently, Rajinikanth's friend and actor Kamal Haasan launched his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam.
