Rajya Sabha faces repeated adjournment over National Herald case

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the second time on Friday till 2.30 p.m. as Congress members stalled the proceedings on the National Herald issue.

Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh moved the motion, which was adopted by voice vote. Announcing this, Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien said the Committee will report to the House by the last day of the first week of the next session.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister, M. Venkaiah Naidu on Friday appealed to Congress MPs to not disrupt the Parliament over the National Herald case and said the disruption will affect in passing of key bills which was introduced under Congress' regime.

"It's not a favour to anyone. It's not a favour to Prime Minister, it's not a favour to BJP but it's a duty cast on all of us to see that Parliament functions meaningfully. The Parliament transacts important business affecting the welfare of the people and the country. We are committed to people on bringing GST, Real Estate and other bills. Infact these bills were initiated during Congress' regime. Now, its time to see that these bills are passed. Nobody will appreciate the disruption of Parliament on flimsy or political reasons," Naidu told the media here.
