Attacking Rahul Gandhi for holding 'padyatra' (foot march) in Goa for a rally ahead of 2017 assembly polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amith Shah on Friday said the Congress vice president should have taken march against employment and welfare of poor instead of protecting black money hoarders.

"If you (Rahul Gandhi) want to take out a march, then do it for electricity, construction of roads and employment, do rallies against starvation, but don't do rallies to save black money," Shah Tweeted.

He further trained his gun at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, saying, "He says that if Congress joins Samajwadi Party, they will be able to form a government. I want to ask them that why are you leaving out 'bua' (Mayawati)."

Shah claimed that the rape cases in Uttar Pradesh shot up to 161 percent in a year and blamed the ruling Samjawadi Party for the same.

"Aunt or uncle, gather whomever you want, but the Uttar Pradesh government will be formed under the Bharatiya Janata Party regime only," he added.
