Senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who had filed a police complaint against Mulayam Singh Yadav for allegedly threatening him over the phone, on Sunday reacted to the rape case lodged against him in Lucknow and said he considers it to be a 'return gift' from the Samajwadi Party chief.
Thakur said the allegation of rape leveled against him was nothing but a 'concocted story'.
"I consider it a return gift from Mulayam Singh Yadav against whom I dared to make his threat public and not only that I also went to get an FIR registered against him. So, whatever case has been registered has definitely been registered after this incident, which clearly shows what are the sequence of events," Thakur told ANI.
"At the same time, we do welcome this FIR and I am sure that justice will be done. But not by the Uttar Pradesh Police, we will have to move the High Court for a CBI enquiry in this particular matter," he added.
Nutan Thakur, an RTI activist and the IPS officer's wife, also demanded an impartial enquiry.
"We do not have faith in the Uttar Pradesh Police. And in the coming days, I think more allegations will be leveled against us.The government, police and the administration is of Mulayam Singh ji.," she said.
A rape case has been lodged against the IPS officer in Lucknow's Gomti Nagar police station. This took place a day after he released an audio in which the Samajwadi Party chief was purportedly threatening him.
The IPS officer's wife has also been accused of taking part in the conspiracy.
The woman had lodged a similar case against the IPS officer on December 31, 2014. But then, the case had not been registered against him.
