Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan is all set to appear in the upcoming eighth edition of the Big Bash League starting December 19.
The 20-year-old, who was the leading wicket-taker in the last edition of the Australian T20 tournament, had missed the final match with his team Adelaide Strikers due to national duties. But this time, the right-arm leg break bowler is hoping to make it through the final and playing the game as well.
"I'm totally here for the Big Bash. I have national commitments after the Big Bash, I'm fully available. I'm looking forward to making it through this year and getting to the finals and hopefully playing in a final," Cricket.com.au quoted Khan as saying.
Spin bowlers were the leading wicket scalpers in the last edition of the T20 tournament which prompted the teams to put their money on spinners in this edition. Afghan teenager Mujeeb Ur Rahman, picked by Brisbane Heat, is an example of that.
Brisbane Heat pacer James Pattinson said that Rahman is a world-class spinner who would prove crucial to the team during the tournament.
"We've got a world-class spinner in Mujeeb who is going to bring a lot to the table. And as we've seen over the years spinners are really key parts of every team," Pattinson said.
The opening match of the 2018-19 edition of the Big Bash League will see Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers locking horns with each other at the Gabba.
