The mother of Reeva Steenkamp started crying while Paralympian Oscar Pistorius pressed his hands over his eyes when a ballistic expert detailed the fatal wounds suffered by the murdered South African model on Valentine's Day last year.
June Steenkamp began crying as the murder trial of Paralympian continued in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria and she was comforted by a member of the ANC Women's League sitting next to her.
According to News24, Captain Chris Mangena revealed in the trial that there was bruises on the chest and back of Steenkamp although the projectile did not penetrate the chest, adding that the model also had a wound on the middle finger of her left hand and two wounds in the head, one the bullet entrance wound and the other the exit wound.
Maangena also said that he was present when measurements were taken of Pistorius' body, adding that with his prosthetic legs, the Blade Runner was 1.84m tall and 1.65m without them.
Pistorius has been charged with the premeditated murder of Steenkamp and contravening the Firearms Control Act as he allegedly fired a shot under a table at a Johannesburg restaurant in January 2013 and also allegedly shot through the open sunroof of a car in September 2012, the report added.
