Chinese authorities have ordered an investigation against the chief of the country's state-owned assets regulatory commission, Jiang Jiemin, over corruption and disciplinary charges.

According to the BBC, the supervision ministry blamed Jiang for serious violation of discipline.

Jiang was head of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), which has faced a number of corruption allegations, until March.

President Xi Jinping had vowed to eradicate corruption in China immediately after he came to power.

There is another high-profile case going on against disgraced senior party official Bo Xilai, who was put on trial for bribery, embezzlement and abuse of power.
