'Rejuvenated' Woods to return to action at Congressional for first time since March

American golf ace Tiger Woods, who was recovering from back surgery, will return to action next week for the first time since March and will play in the US PGA Tour's National event at Congressional.

Woods said that after a lot of therapy he has recovered well and would be supporting his foundation next week in golf.

According to The BBC, Woods said he has just started to hit full shots but it is time for him to take the next step, adding that he would be a bit rusty but he wants to play himself back into competitive shape.

Woods return has reportedly suggested that the 14-time major champion might be fit for the Open Championship at Hoylake that would start on 17 July.

The 38-year-old, who won his last major in 2008, got surgery on a pinched nerve in his back on 31 March and has not played since the final round of the WGC-Cadillac Championship three months ago.

Woods missed the Masters at Augusta for the first time in 19 years and was also absent from this month's US Open as he continued with his recovery at home in Florida.

Currently Australian Adam Scott is ranked at world number one as he overtook Woods, who stayed at the top of the world rankings for 14-months, during his time out.
