India's dismal show at the Rio Olympics continued as weightlifter Sathish Kumar Sivalingam was knocked out of the tournament, after failing to qualify for the finals of the men's 77kg weightlifting category here on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old, hailing from Tamil Nadu's Vellore, lifted 148 kilograms in the snatch and 181 in the clean and jerk for a total of 329.
After lifting 176 kg and 181kg in the first two attempts of the clean and jerk , Sivalingam failed to lift in the third attempt to finish the campaign at fourth place and miss the final berth.
Colombia's Andres Mauricio Caicedo Piedrahita took the lead in Group B after the snatch segment of 155 kg while Andres Eduardo Mata Perez of Spain made a second-place finish with 153kg.
The final of the event will take place on August 11.
